This is the second documentary I’ve worked on with filmmaker Scott Crawford. (The first was Salad Days, about the early days of punk in Washington D.C.) Scott was looking for a fun way to illustrate some of the stories people were telling him about the early days of Creem Magazine. I tried to find a style that was as brash and energetic as Creem Magazine itself. Working with the amazing L.A. based illustrator Sherise Seven, we provided several sequences for the film.
